Forestry consultants warned

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Forestry Djamaludin Suryohadikusumo
warned that his office would take measures against several
forestry consultants if the forestry association could not
discipline them.

"Some forestry consultants have manipulated their
environmental audits...I expect the Indonesian Association of
Forestry Consultants to take action against such consultants,"
Djamaludin said in a briefing for the association's executives at
his office this week.

"If the association cannot discipline its members, I will," he
said.

According to regulations, forest concessions are state
properties which can be warranted to private investors under a
limited period of time and strict regulations. (hdj)
