Jakarta — The Forest Law Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) has responded to reports that PT Karya Wijaya, a company owned by North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda, was issued an administrative fine of Rp500 billion by the task force.

Satgas PKH Spokesperson Barita Simanjuntak, speaking at the Attorney General’s Building in Jakarta on Monday, stated that the task force is currently conducting verification processes in North Maluku.

“The process is still ongoing. There are no final results yet because there are data discrepancies being verified, which will be reported in due course,” he said.

He stated that the task force works carefully, accurately, and scientifically, and therefore requires time.

He also assured that if violations are found in the verified data, the task force will take appropriate follow-up actions.

“Be assured that we work according to regulations, and it is within those regulations that law enforcement efforts are conducted,” he said.

Previously, reports indicated that PT Karya Wijaya, owned by Sherly Tjoanda, was issued an administrative fine of Rp500 billion by Satgas PKH for allegedly conducting illegal nickel mining activities on Gabe Island, Central Halmahera, North Maluku.
