A foreign tourist named Ryan Mordey claimed he was forced to leave a villa in the Canggu area, North Kuta, Badung, Bali. He made this allegation through a video post that went viral on social media.

Based on the circulated video, Ryan stated that he was visited by five men and a police officer. Ryan said he was asked to leave the villa.

“Five men and a police officer just came to my place. They came and tried to force me to leave the villa because the management was supposedly deceived by a third-party booking agent they used to reserve this villa,” Ryan said in the video viewed by detikBali on the Instagram account @mordeyfitness on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Ryan expressed confusion, claiming he had paid for six months’ accommodation through the third-party company designated as the villa management’s booking agent. Ryan suspected the agent had only remitted payment for two months to the villa management.

“In short, I’ve already paid for six months through a third-party company chosen by the management. However, the third-party agent only remitted payment for two months and then completely disappeared,” Ryan said.

“I have all the documents. I have all the payment receipts. I have the details of my stay duration of 181 days, but they still tried to evict me from my villa,” he added.

Ryan’s frustration was expressed through four videos posted in series on the Instagram account. The posts garnered various comments from social media users. Many social media users expressed empathy for Ryan and regretted the villa management’s policy.

Villa Management Responds

After several days in the spotlight, the management of Canggu Circle by Ini Vie Hospitality finally responded and provided clarification through the Instagram account @canggucircle. The villa management stated that they too were harmed in the matter.

“We understand the disappointment experienced by the guest as a victim of the third party. However, it must be emphasised that we are also a party that has been harmed in this situation,” wrote Canggu Circle management in their post on Friday, 27 February.

The villa management then detailed the room booking chronology carried out by Ryan through the agent. They stated that they initially received a reservation request from an agent named Kanantar* Agent for a two-month stay period, from 8 December 2025 to 6 February 2026.

“On 4 December 2025, we received a reservation request from Kanantar* Agent for the guest in question with a stay period of only two months,” the management added.

The management stated that the invoice for the villa room rental had been processed for those two months. The management also said that the rental fee had been paid on the same day.

“Pursuant to the request, our reservation team processed the invoice and placed a hold on the room. On the same date, Kanantar* Agent completed the payment through bank transfer to our account,” the management said.

To summarise, Ryan checked into the villa on 8 December 2025. The management stated that the foreign tourist also signed a registration form stating a two-month stay with a check-out date of 6 February 2026.

The villa stated that they only became aware of the claim of a six-month room booking when the team reminded the foreign tourist of the check-out schedule. “On 5 February 2026, our team contacted to remind the guest of the check-out schedule the following day. It was at this point that the guest informed us that he had booked for six months through the agent,” the management said.

The management claimed to have only received payment for two months and never received the remaining four months of payment from either the agent or the guest. The villa management also provided several documents such as a confirmation letter, invoice, proof of transfer, and registration form.

Additionally, the villa management stated that they had already offered one month of free accommodation and a 10 per cent discount to the guest for the remaining stay period. The villa operators regretted Ryan’s decision to post the matter on social media.

“The guest rejected our offer and chose to post provocative content on social media that was intended to sway public opinion unfavourably towards our management, which does not correspond with the facts,” they said.

The management stated they were willing to resolve the matter amicably. However, they are also considering taking legal action if necessary.

“We have also made earnest efforts to contact Kanantar* Agent for accountability, but to date there has been no response or good faith from them,” the management wrote.

DetikBali attempted to confirm the matter with the North Kuta Police District Chief, Police Commissioner I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina. However, at the time of reporting, there was no official explanation from the police.
