Foreign Net Selling Shrinks, but Bank Stocks Still Heavily Offloaded
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Foreign net selling shrank during yesterday’s trading on Wednesday (1/4/2026). This occurred alongside the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), which managed to close trading on a strong note.
Foreign investors recorded a net foreign sell of Rp165.5 billion. The previous day, the net foreign sell reached Rp1.28 trillion.
Yesterday’s selling pressure primarily hit large banking stocks that had previously driven the IHSG’s strengthening.
According to trading data, shares of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) were the most heavily offloaded by foreigners, with a net sell value of Rp374 billion.
In second place, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) also experienced a net sell of Rp318.2 billion, followed by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBNI) at Rp135.1 billion.

Meanwhile, the IHSG closed up nearly 2% or 136.22 points at 7,184.44. A total of 494 stocks rose, 224 fell, and 240 were unchanged. Trading value picked up today, though it still did not match the average daily trading value from the start of the year.
The trading value was recorded at Rp16.44 trillion, involving 29.99 billion shares in 1.99 million transactions. Market capitalisation rose to Rp12,650 trillion.
Citing Refinitiv, all sectors were in the green. Utilities, raw materials, and non-primary consumer sectors led the gains, rising 4%, 3.66%, and 3.09% respectively.
Several conglomerate stocks supported the IHSG. Impack Pratama (IMPC), which rose 21.6% and contributed 10.17 points, was the stock with the largest weight.
This was followed by Telkom (TLKM) contributing 9.48 points, Barito Renewables Energy (BREN) 9.26 points, Dian Swastatika Sentosa (DSSA) 8.95 points, and Bumi Resources Minerals (BRMS) 7.48 points.
