Foreign Nationals Stranded in Bali as Flights Disrupted by Iran Conflict
A conflict between the United States-Israel coalition and Iran has impacted several international flights at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Badung, Bali. Several passengers reported confusion and were forced to extend their stays in Bali without prior planning.
One such case involved Marlene and her husband, a Dutch couple on their honeymoon in Bali. They had planned to return home after several days of holiday, but the flight cancellation forced them to seek alternative travel arrangements, which required transiting through Doha.
“We’ve already tried to look for new flights around the Middle East. But those flights are very expensive and very long. So we think we’ll be here for a few more days,” Marlene said, according to detikBali on Monday (2 March 2026).
Marlene said she had visited Qatar Airways customer service to seek clarification. However, according to her, no concrete solutions have been offered.
A similar situation was experienced by Tyrah, a tourist from Kenya who was holidaying alone in Bali for ten days. Her flight to Kenya, scheduled to depart that day, was cancelled because the route required transiting through Kuala Lumpur and Doha.
Tyrah had visited the airline’s customer service desk. However, she had not received a solution beyond being asked to await further information.
“They just told me to keep checking their official page on Twitter, and then I’ll see if the flight will be rescheduled. But they can’t give any guarantee. So I just have to wait and keep checking,” she said.
