The Indonesian Foreign Ministry (Kemlu) has said there are no reports of Indonesian citizens being harmed in connection with the conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran. Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at Kemlu, Heni Hamidah, said that a number of Indonesians have been affected only by flight cancellations, leading to some being stranded. ‘What is affected at the moment are Indonesians stranded due to airspace restrictions or closures, flight route diversions, and uncertainty of international travel schedules,’ Heni said at a press briefing at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry in Jakarta on Friday, 6 March 2026. Flight schedules are being monitored and reported by Indonesian representatives together with local authorities. Heni added that Kemlu is also focusing on handling Umrah pilgrims as the escalation in the Middle East grows. Indonesian representatives have deployed 24-hour monitoring teams at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah to assist stranded Indonesian Umrah pilgrims. ‘And pilgrims who remain stranded in terms of return are under the coordination of representatives and travel operators to find accommodation or lodging around Jeddah and Madinah while awaiting available return tickets,’ she said. For the first phase, 32 Indonesians will be evacuated. ‘Regarding the plan to evacuate Indonesians in Iran, we will of course monitor developments and security in Iran; evacuation will begin in stages today,’ Heni added. She noted that the first phase of evacuation of Indonesians in Iran will go via Azerbaijan. However, subsequent evacuation routes will be adjusted to real-time field conditions and determined by Indonesian representatives at the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran and the Indonesian Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan. ‘The next evacuation plans will be decided by the Government of Indonesia after consideration of the latest security updates and other aspects,’ she said.
