Tony Roma's - Famous for ribs
Opening its first outlet in Jakarta in 1993, Tony Roma's is quickly becoming Jakarta's choice for barbeque ribs. It's recent expansion to Bandung further strengthens its position in the Indonesian market.
While we in Jakarta have only known Tony Roma's since 1993, its history goes back long before that.
The history of Tony Roma's goes back to veteran restaurateur Tony Roma, when he opened the first restaurant - Tony Roma's Place in North Miami, Florida on January 20, 1972.
The restaurant featured a casual decor and comfortable ambience with the feel of a neighborhood bar, genuine cordiality, a simple menu of sensational food at reasonable prices, late- night food service and nightly live entertainment. Baby back ribs emerged as the house specialty, with people traveling miles to sample the signature product.
Roma's Place soon became one of Miami's most popular and successful restaurants and firmly established its niche in the marketplace.
With the help of Clint Murchison Jr. - a Texas financier and owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Roma Corporation was established to fund an aggressive and strategic expansion. A second restaurant was opened in Florida in 1976. By 1986, the company was poised for significant growth into a vast number of markets. By the end of 1998, four continents boasted 212 Tony Roma's restaurants.
Now, Tony Roma's is well-known as an American family restaurant chain with more than 260 restaurants world-wide and world famous for its original Baby Back Ribs and beef ribs as well as other true-blue American cuisine. It was claimed to have the Best Ribs & Barbeque by US National Rib Cook-Off and Last Vegas Review-Journal. It also received Best Restaurant Award for American Category according to Jakarta Kini magazine in 2003 and 2004.
Being one of the best Western food restaurants does not prevent it from exploring Asian tastes.
Recently, Tony Roma's launched four new mouthwatering dishes with an Asia-Pacific twist: Sesame Grilled Wings, Asian Honey Ribs, Black Pepper Chicken Skewer and Pumpkin Soup. Concocted by chefs in USA, Jakarta and Australia, these creative dishes possess the uniqueness of Asian cuisine with an American style of cooking that results in great tasting food products displaying the bold and robust flavor profiles that made Tony Roma's world famous.
Still with the intention to always offer the best for its customers, Tony Roma's joins other best-selected merchants as an ANZ Spot partner, providing value for ANZ cardholders. Famous for its ANZ Spot "I Love This Spot" program, ANZ is known for endorsing only the best cafes/restaurants and hang-out places. This is reflected in the tagline "I Love to Eat, I Love to Hang- out, All Year Long..."
