Footage Captures Moment Iranian Drones Strike Saudi Aramco Oil Refinery
Eyewitness footage captured on Monday shows workers evacuating areas surrounding the Ras Tanura oil refinery in Saudi Arabia as thick smoke billows into the air.
Reuters verification on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, confirmed the location shown in the video as the Ras Tanura refinery complex through building, vegetation, and chimney stack matching against satellite imagery of the facility.
The date of the incident was further confirmed by an official statement from Saudi Aramco, the Saudi state-owned oil company, which reported that the facility was shut down following the drone attack.
Industry sources reported that the Saudi oil giant decided to close the Ras Tanura Refinery as a precautionary security measure.
The closure marks a significant escalation on the third day of successive attacks in the region, which Tehran is reported to have launched in response to a combined US-Israel strike against Iran.
The Ras Tanura complex, located on the Persian Gulf coast, is one of the largest oil refineries in the Middle East with processing capacity reaching 550,000 barrels per day. The facility also serves as a primary export terminal for Saudi crude oil, meaning operational disruption could significantly affect global oil supplies and influence world oil prices.
