Food vendors' turnover at TPPG surges 50 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The sales turnover of several food vendors at Terminal Terpadu Pulo Gebang (TTPG) in East Jakarta has surged by up to 50 percent compared to the beginning of this year’s Ramadan. “At the start of the Ramadan fast, it was still quiet or normal, but today and over the last 10 days, it has increased by about 50 percent,” said Nur Aida, one of the Padang-style eatery vendors, when met in Jakarta on Wednesday evening. She explained that the sales increase can reach around 150 portions, compared to just over 100 portions previously. The volume of purchases, she continued, is dominated from the afternoon until just before breaking the fast, with some customers eating on-site and others packing food to take to the departure waiting area. “The main buyers are prospective passengers or those leaving for the evening,” she said. A similar situation was described by Rina Suharsih, who expressed gratitude that her goods have sold well ahead of Eid. However, she declined to detail the total revenue from her trading activities. “Alhamdulillah, over the last few days, many people have bought from the afternoon until breaking the fast,” she revealed. The middle-aged vendor admitted that the most popular items are mixed rice with fish, chicken, and eggs. Meanwhile, the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) previously stated that Wednesday is expected to be the peak of this year’s mudik flow at Terminal Terpadu Pulo Gebang in East Jakarta. The density of prospective passengers begins from morning until night after breaking the fast.
