Food vendor stabbed to death
JAKARTA (JP): A food vendor was stabbed to death by three men
after the victim refused to give them any money in a scuffle in
Pondok Gede, Bekasi, some 30 km east of the capital, on Sunday
night.
Sources at the Pondok Gede police sub-precint told The Jakarta
Post yesterday that the victim was Riswan Nasution, 31, who was
killed by three men known as notorious hoodlums in the area. The
sources said the police had apprehended one of the three
suspects, while the other two were still at large.
"It's only a matter of time before we catch the other two
suspects because we know their identities," one police officer
said.
According to Darwis Nasution, one of the deceased's relatives,
the hoodlums asked Riswan to give them some money. But Riswan
refused the demand and offered resistance when the men produced
knives and mobbed him. Darwis did not specify the sum of money
demanded by the suspects.
The men then brutally stabbed a helpless Riswan who suffered
five stab wounds to the left arm, stomach, back and chest. Riswan
was immediately rushed to hospital, but died on the way, Darwis
said.
Riswan, a resident of Jl. Jati Makmur, Pondok Gede, is
survived by a wife, who is three months pregnant, and two
children.(04)
