Food Security Task Force Ensures No Price Spikes Ahead of Nyepi-Eid al-Fitr Holidays
The Bali Regional Police Food Security Task Force, in coordination with relevant agencies, conducted inspections and monitoring of food commodity prices at various distribution points and modern markets on Sunday (15 March 2026). This action was undertaken to maintain price stability ahead of the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr celebrations in 2026.
Several strategic commodities were checked, including rice, beef, chicken, cooking oil, sugar, and other essential goods.
“Officers conducted price verification, checked compliance with government-set maximum retail prices (HET), and ensured adequate stock availability of basic necessities in the field,” stated Kombes Ariasandy, Head of Public Relations for Bali Regional Police.
Additionally, Ariasandy noted that direct dialogue was conducted with traders and merchants to prevent hoarding practices and unjustified price increases.
This activity represents a commitment by the Bali Regional Police Food Security Task Force to maintain stable supply and pricing of essential goods, whilst providing the public with security and certainty in meeting daily needs ahead of the two major celebrations.
According to Ariasandy, monitoring results showed that food commodity prices across Bali, particularly in Denpasar, remained relatively stable with adequate supply meeting public demand. No prices exceeding the HET were detected. Food commodity prices remained stable with stock levels secure and sufficient.
“Nevertheless, the Bali Regional Police Food Security Task Force will continue to remind business operators not to sell food commodities above government-set provisions, and if violations are found, sanctions will be imposed in stages, from written warnings to business licence revocation,” Ariasandy explained.
With this intensive oversight, it is hoped that Bali’s residents can celebrate the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holidays peacefully, without concerns about food commodity availability or price increases in the market.
“Monitoring will continue in coordination with relevant agencies. The Bali Regional Police Food Security Task Force also encourages more efficient distribution to maintain supply and prevent price spikes,” concluded the former Head of Public Relations for East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police.
