Smartphone vendors Vivo and its sub-brand iQoo have officially announced a price increase for their handsets in China. The company made this announcement on 16 March 2026.

In its official announcement, Vivo and iQoo stated that the price adjustment policy will take effect today, 18 March, at 10:00 China time.

This increase targets the company’s products in China, but it is strongly suspected to also affect global markets.

Although stating a rise, neither Vivo nor iQoo has detailed which models will experience the price increase.

The official statement only mentions that this policy affects “certain models”.

“Due to the continuous and significant increase in semiconductor and memory costs worldwide, after careful evaluation, we will adjust the retail prices for some products,” said Vivo and iQoo in a statement in Chinese, quoted from GSM Arena.

The same practice has already been carried out by Vivo in Indonesia since January 2026. At that time, prices for several Vivo smartphones increased by up to Rp 800,000.

For example, the Vivo Y21d is now sold for Rp 2.6 million to Rp 3.4 million depending on the variant, while the Vivo Y04s rose from Rp 1.4 million to Rp 1.549 million.

According to Vivo Indonesia’s PR Manager Alexa Tiara, the price increase policy is based on various considerations, including the management of component costs, one of which is RAM. Nevertheless, the company chose not to raise prices for all its handsets.

“For the price adjustment policy, we do not apply it uniformly to all product series. Each series has different specifications and cost structures, with varying characteristics and market segmentation, so the policy will be implemented variably per product,” said Tiara via a short message received on Wednesday (14/1/2026).

In a post on Oppo’s online store in China, first spotted by tech media Gizmochina, Oppo stated that this price adjustment is due to smartphone manufacturers facing rising component costs, particularly in memory and storage.

This Chinese company assured that the policy was taken after careful evaluation regarding the increase in component costs.

The models affected by the price increase are entry-level to mid-range handsets, both from Oppo and OnePlus.

More specifically, the policy will affect prices of Oppo’s A series to K series. However, Oppo did not detail the list of models and emphasised that not all devices from the company will experience a price rise.

According to Oppo, this adjustment is necessary to maintain overall product quality and user experience.
