Following Acts of Aggression, Trump Agrees to Speak with Iran's New Leadership
UNITED States President Donald Trump has stated that Iran’s new leadership wishes to engage in dialogue with his administration and that he intends to do so.
“They want to talk and I have agreed to talk, so I will speak with them,” Trump said, quoted by The Atlantic magazine.
“They should have done it sooner. They should have taken very practical and easy steps earlier. They waited too long,” he added.
Trump provided no comment regarding when such conversations would take place.
Iran’s Openness
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi that Tehran remains open to any “serious efforts to reduce tensions,” according to a statement from the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Oman has acted as a mediator in recent nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, with Al Busaidi having met with US Vice President JD Vance in Washington on Friday.
Araqchi also stated that the joint US-Israel attack constituted “a cause of increased tensions and panic in the region,” according to the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.
