Focus On Canada established

JAKARTA (JP): Five organizations involved in Indonesia-
Canadian relations have decided to unite into one association
called Focus On Canada.

The new association, supported by the Canadian Embassy,
unveiled its new logo in ceremony last Thursday at the Regent
Hotel.

Prof. Fuad Hassan, a former Indonesian minister of education
and culture and University of Toronto graduate, presided over the
ceremony.

Focus On Canada's first activity in 1996 will be an
exhibition of paintings by Marsha Stonehouse, a Canadian artist
whose works depict panoramas of Bali.

Mrs. Halimah Bambang Trihatmodjo, a daughter-in-law of
President Soeharto, is scheduled to open the exhibition.

FOC activities will lead up to the arrival of Canadian
Prime Minister Jean Chretien next January.
