Flyovers or
underpasses needed

From Warta Kota

The TB Simatupang outer ring road may solve the traffic jams
in several spots in South Jakarta. Actually, neither the toll
road or the artery roads are too crowded, except in areas close
to an intersection.

After observing road conditions for many years, I have found
that the traffic congestion at the Pasar Minggu intersection is
really very serious, as vehicles merge from Warung Buncit/Ragunan
and from Pasar Rebo/Tanjung Barat. At this intersection, traffic
jams can happen at any time, and even during the night there are
still long lines of vehicles.

This congestion, it turns out, is caused by the railway line
used by Jakarta-Bogor trains. Trains pass this line every five to
10 minutes and they come from both ways. This disrupts the
function of the traffic lights, so it is often the case that
vehicles cannot move at all. Plus, the railway line has made the
road slightly damaged and bumpy.

Therefore, I believe an underpass or a flyover will be needed
for this area to ensure that the traffic along the artery road
moves smoothly. The public works agency, Jasa Marga, and the
railway company must be responsible for this intersection in
Pasar Minggu.
