Floods Submerge Several Areas in Bengkulu, Affecting 2,688 Households
The Bengkulu City Government, Bengkulu Province, has recorded thousands of residents affected by flooding due to heavy rain that lashed the area since Sunday night (5 April). Preliminary data shows that 2,688 households (KK) have been impacted in various areas. “From Monday until today, we are still conducting data collection and compiling the number of flood victims in Bengkulu City,” said the Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bengkulu City, Deni, in Bengkulu on Tuesday (7 April). As of now, BPBD Bengkulu City is still carrying out further data collection to ensure the exact number of affected residents, given that the flood has hit almost the entire city area with varying levels of impact. In Singaran Pati District, several affected areas include Jembatan Kecil Ward with 68 houses submerged, Lingkar Timur Ward with six KK, Timur Indah Ward with 30 KK, and Panorama with 54 KK. Meanwhile, in Muara Bangkahulu District, the flood has impacted Rawa Makmur Ward with 41 KK, Rawa Makmur Permai with 185 KK, and Pematang Gubernur with 173 KK. A significant impact has also occurred in Ratu Agung District, where Tanah Patah Ward recorded 238 affected KK, Tebeng Ward reached 745 KK, and Sawah Lebar Baru Ward with 80 KK. In Ratu Samban District, the affected areas include Anggut Atas Ward with 29 KK, Belakang Pondok with 95 KK, Penurunan with 84 KK, Anggut Bawah with three KK, and Kebun Dahri with 44 KK. Next, in Sungai Serut District, Tanjung Agung Ward recorded 281 KK or 895 people affected, Sukamerindu with 147 KK, Surabaya with 125 KK, Pasar Bengkulu with 19 KK or 75 people, Semarang with 49 KK, and Kampung Kelawi with five KK or 20 people. For Selebar District, Pagar Dewa Ward recorded 57 affected KK. In Kampung Melayu District, Muara Dua Ward has 50 affected adult residents and five toddlers. Meanwhile, in Gading Cempaka District, Lingkar Barat Ward recorded 60 affected houses and Jalan Gedang Ward with 20 KK. Since the first day of the incident, BPBD Bengkulu City has distributed emergency aid to residents in the form of basic needs such as instant noodles, rice, and mineral water. “We are also coordinating with the Social Services, Baznas, and Health Services. We are collaborating and sharing locations in the distribution of aid,” he said.
