Floods inflict heavy losses

BENGKULU, Bengkulu: Weekend floods and landslides caused
material losses of Rp 10 billion ($4.5 million), officials said.

Deputy Governor Usup Supriyadi said that the disaster
destroyed 2,500 hectares of rice fields, hundreds of houses,
infrastructure facilities and coffee plantations, Antara
reported.

Eleven people were killed and 20 others are still missing
following the floods. Armed Forces personnel and volunteers are
still searching for the missing persons.

Meanwhile, relief aid has been pouring in to the affected area
to help the people displaced by the natural disaster. The
Bengkulu administration has donated 11 tons of rice and more than
Rp 23 million in cash.(pwn)
