Hydro-meteorological disasters in the form of floods and extreme weather affected several regions in Indonesia during the Eid 2026 period or Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded these incidents occurring on 21-22 March 2026, impacting communities in parts of West Java, East Java, and Maluku. Head of the BNPB Data, Information, and Disaster Communication Centre, Abdul Muhari, stated that several wet hydro-meteorological disasters were triggered by extreme weather such as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Citing Antara, in West Java Province, extreme weather hit five villages in four sub-districts in Cianjur Regency on Friday (20/3). This event affected 18 households and damaged 18 houses. Handling at the site focused on evacuating fallen trees and repairing residents’ house roofs damaged by strong winds. Still in West Java, flooding also occurred in Mekarsari and Tugu sub-districts, Cimanggis Sub-district, Depok City, on Saturday (21/3). As many as 685 households were affected, with 17 people from six households forced to evacuate. Preliminary rapid assessment results recorded around 691 house units affected. Nevertheless, the flood conditions were reported to be gradually receding. Meanwhile, in East Java Province, flooding hit Mojokerto Regency on Friday (20/3). This incident caused around 275 people to evacuate. As many as 146 houses were affected, one embankment was reported breached, and more than 20 hectares of rice fields and three road accesses were also impacted. The affected areas included Kertosari Village in Kutorejo Sub-district and Jumenang Village in Mojoanyar Sub-district. To date, water pooling is reported to be receding with cloudy weather conditions. In eastern Indonesia, flooding also occurred in Maluku Province, specifically in West Seram Regency on Saturday (21/3). This disaster impacted around 177 households and residents’ houses in Buano Utara Village, Huamual Belakang Sub-district, as well as Piru Village, West Seram Sub-district. BNPB stated that the latest conditions in the area show the flood is starting to recede. However, the public is still urged to increase vigilance against the potential for extreme weather that may still occur in the coming days.
