Flooding has submerged Jalan Dewi Sri in Legian, Kuta, Badung regency, Bali, since the early hours of the morning. Water began rising at approximately 04:00 WITA and continued to increase until it covered the entire road surface.

Floodwater reaching adult waist height forced the closure of access from both the northern and southern directions, as vehicles were unable to pass through. By midday, the area remained paralysed.

“Heavy rain since the early hours — around 3am the water had already started rising. The rain just wouldn’t stop,” said a Kuta resident, Made, speaking at the scene on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Despite the local government having previously raised the road level, water still inundated shops and restaurants. Water pumps at several points were activated to accelerate the drainage of floodwater into the river.

Similar conditions occurred on Jalan Campuhan, Jalan Dewi Sri IV, Grand Dewi Sri, and Jalan Nakula V. Motorists were forced to turn back as routes towards Imam Bonjol, Sunset Road, and Jalan Raya Kuta were inaccessible via Dewi Sri.

“If you want to head towards Imam Bonjol, you have to go back around via Sunset Road. It looks like it’ll be a long time before it can be reopened,” said travel driver Kadek Soma.

The Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Badung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Ketut Murdika, said the joint team remained focused on evacuation and managing the impact of the flooding.
