Flooding on Daan Mogot Road in West Jakarta as Police Help Push Stalled Vehicles
Floodwaters continued to inundate Jalan Daan Mogot in West Jakarta on Friday. A number of motorcyclists attempted to ride through the flooding, only to have their vehicles stall.
Based on observations at the scene on Friday (20/2/2026) at 11.00 Western Indonesian Time, several motorcyclists were seen pulling over after their motorcycles broke down. Police then assisted by pushing the stalled motorcycles and attempting to restart them.
The motorcycles received initial treatment on site. Water that had entered the engines was drained before attempts were made to restart them using the kick-starters.
Cengkareng Traffic Unit Chief of the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKP Yeni, said the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Flood Taskforce was on hand to help push the stalled motorcycles. Officers also helped try to restart the vehicles.
“Yes, the Flood Taskforce from the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police is here. Our officers are helping with motorcycles that have stalled after their riders recklessly rode through the standing water. As you can see, they are trying to restart them by kick-starting the stalled vehicles,” said AKP Yeni at the scene.
She then urged motorists to seek alternative routes. Riders could travel via Kebon Jeruk to reach the Tangerang direction.
“We from the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit urge riders, especially those on two-wheeled vehicles, to find alternative routes from Grogol towards Tangerang. You can go via Kebon Jeruk or through Taman Kota. Fortunately, the Taman Kota route is now passable again. And the route from the Samsat office is also passable,” she said.
She also urged motorists to prioritise safety and comply with applicable traffic regulations. According to her, several accidents had already occurred in the vicinity.
“And we urge everyone to always comply with traffic regulations, keep yourselves safe, and please do not ride against the flow of traffic, as there have already been several accidents,” she said.
