Flood Victims in Pidie Jaya Receive Meugang Aid from Prabowo
The Pidie Jaya Regency Government in Aceh has distributed meugang tradition aid from President Prabowo Subianto to communities affected by flooding, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
The meugang tradition aid, in the form of cattle, was distributed by Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkompinda) of Pidie Jaya Regency on Monday (16/2).
The assistance was channelled to communities affected by the flooding in late November 2025, spread across several sub-districts in Pidie Jaya Regency, including Meureudu, Meurah Dua, Trienggadeng, Panteraja, Bandar Dua, Ulim, and Bandar Baru.
"This presidential aid is intended to fulfil the needs of the meugang tradition as a demonstration of the central government's concern for communities still in the post-disaster recovery transition period," said Sibral.
Sibral stated that the total meugang tradition aid received by the Pidie Jaya Regency Government amounted to Rp4.9 billion. The assistance was realised through the purchase of cattle for affected communities.
"From the total presidential aid budget, the regional government procured 245 head of cattle to be distributed to communities in flood-affected villages," he said.
He explained that each cow was assigned a serial number corresponding to recipient village data to ensure accurate distribution. If any errors or serial number mix-ups occurred, the cattle must be returned.
"Each cow already has a serial number and is handed over to the respective recipient village. The cattle aid must not be transferred to other villages as it will be inspected during the distribution process. Sub-district heads and village officials must accompany the process to ensure orderly distribution," said Sibral.
Sibral expressed hope that the aid would ease the burden on communities whilst strengthening solidarity amongst residents in welcoming Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
"Hopefully this aid will help communities celebrate and enjoy the meugang tradition with their families, and serve as encouragement to recover and accelerate the restoration of socio-economic life after the disaster," said Sibral.
