Tanah Datar Regency has been hit by a flood disaster. The Tanah Datar Regency Government has established emergency disaster posts in two of the four districts affected by the flooding on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

The flood disaster posts for handling the flooding in Tanah Datar are located in Lintau Buo District, specifically on the grounds of the Sitangkai Nagari Taluk Weighbridge (JTO), and in front of the Tanjung Emas Sub-District Office.

Tanah Datar Regent Eka Putra, while visiting the flood site in Nagari Taluk, stated that rains that hit Tanah Datar Regency two days ago caused four districts to be severely affected by flooding, namely North Lintau Buo District, Lintau Buo, Padang Ganting, and Tanjung Emas District.

“We from the regional government have gone directly to the field to ensure the safety of residents and we are also providing urgent assistance to the community such as food supplies and others,” he said on Friday (15/5).

The Regent explained that although there were no fatalities from the flood disaster in Tanah Datar, field observations and reports from related agencies indicate that several houses were swept away and also moderately to severely damaged.

For houses that were swept away and severely damaged, the Regent offered two repair methods to the community as replacements for their homes.

“We offer two methods, namely permanent housing (huntap), meaning we prepare the land and we build the house. The second method is independent, meaning land from residents and construction from the government,” the Regent explained.

Furthermore, for cleaning materials, especially in residents’ homes, he said, it is assisted by the Fire Department and the Regional Disaster Management Agency. Cleaning due to the flood disaster in the area is also assisted by the Indonesian Army from the Pandeka Gunung Marapi Battalion.

“The material cleaning earlier I saw was already sprayed by the firefighting team and tomorrow it will be assisted by one platoon from the Pandeka Gunung Marapi Battalion. Hopefully, it will be very helpful in cleaning the houses affected by the flood,” the Regent continued.

Regarding the urgent needs of the affected community, the Regent mentioned that currently residents greatly need clothing, food and food supplies, baby equipment, and other necessities.
