Serang (ANTARA) — The Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang City, Banten, reported that 84 people remain in evacuation centres following flooding that has not fully subsided in several areas, particularly in Kasemen District.

The Chief Coordinator of BPBD Serang City Diat Hermawan said in Serang on Monday that in total, 6,763 residents affected by the hydrometeorological disaster have been recorded, or 2,223 households.

“Current conditions show a declining trend in several locations, such as in Serang and Cipocok Jaya Districts. However, in Kasemen District, water still inundates residential areas with varying water depths,” said Diat.

In addition to residential areas, the flooding has also submerged important public facilities including the Kasemen Health Centre and the Mirbath Syaja’ah Al Akhyar Islamic boarding school. In total, 20 flood sites were recorded that have submerged at least 528 houses across four districts.

BPBD Serang City personnel remain on standby at affected locations to carry out evacuations, monitor water discharge levels, and conduct further data collection. Although weather is monitored with light rainfall intensity, officers remain vigilant against the potential for river water levels to rise.

The BPBD has urged residents to remain alert to weather changes and always follow official information from the Indonesia Meteorological Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) as well as the BPBD Serang City Call Centre to anticipate further disaster impacts.
