Situbondo (ANTARA) - The Situbondo Regency Government in East Java has recorded five Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who are working in Middle Eastern countries and have been unable to return to Indonesia since the outbreak of the Iran-US-Israel war.

The Head of the Situbondo Regency Manpower Office, Suriyatno, stated in Situbondo on Thursday that since the Iran-US-Israel war began, the local government has opened a complaint post for migrant workers employed in the conflict area.

“Since the complaint post was opened, five migrant worker families have reported, and they are spread across five countries in the Middle East, namely Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain,” he said.

“The migrant workers have asked their families in Situbondo to urge their immediate repatriation because they are worried about the prolonged conflict in the Middle East,” Suriyatno added.

Previously, Situbondo Regent Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo said he had also communicated with relevant parties, such as the Indonesian Consulates General (KJRI) in those Middle Eastern countries, and would meet with the Minister of Migrant Worker Protection (P2MI).

The five migrant workers are Ratna Ningsih from Krajan Hamlet, Semambung Village, Jatibanteng District, working in Saudi Arabia; Zeiniyah Faradisa from Puri Pratama Housing Block G 15, Sumberkolak Village, Panarukan District, working in Dubai, UAE; Madriadna daughter of Sunamu Misdur from Talkandang Village, Situbondo District, working in Kuwait; Sri Wahyuningsih from Satonggek Hamlet, Seletreng Village, Kapongan District, currently in a shelter in Oman; and Nurhayati from Tenggir Village, Panji District, currently in Manama, Bahrain.
