Jakarta, 16 March 2026 — The first wave of peak Eid homecoming traffic on 14 and 15 March 2026 has been completed.

Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, reported that there was no congestion during the first wave of peak Eid homecoming traffic.

“We report that traffic flow at present is sufficiently controlled. Therefore, no congestion has been observed,” said Agus, quoted from an official statement on Monday, 16 March 2026.

“However, those on toll roads currently account for approximately 25 per cent who have already left Jakarta, whether heading towards the Trans-Java toll road, Bandung, or Sumatra,” said Agus.

One of the National Police’s policies to ease traffic congestion is the restriction of vehicles with three or more axles during the holiday period.

This policy is seen as giving space for private vehicles and passenger transport to keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Over the past two days, the police have been conducting public outreach and taking firm action in the field.

“Should there still be vehicles with three or more axles using the toll road, because this is part of our collective commitment, we will enforce the rules,” said Agus firmly.

Based on government predictions, the first wave peak of homecoming traffic will occur on 14 to 15 March 2026.

“Meanwhile, the second wave is expected on 18-19 March 2026,” said Sigit when delivering remarks during the Operation Ketupat ceremony at the National Monument field (Monas), Jakarta, on Thursday, 12 March 2026, cited from Kompas TV’s YouTube broadcast.

“The public is urged to schedule their travel times to avoid vehicle congestion,” said Sigit.
