Firm get $56m from overseas fairs

JAKARTA (JP): Small and medium Indonesian enterprises and
cooperatives earned a combined revenue of US$56 million from
their participation in overseas trade fairs and exhibitions in
the April to December period of last year, the National Agency
for Export Development said.

The agency, which organized the companies' participation, said
in a report here over the weekend that the sales revenues might
be higher than the figure because not all of the companies and
cooperatives reported their business transactions to it.

"Some 600 enterprises and cooperatives participated in 44
trade fairs and exhibitions around the world, which were
conducted for a range between two days and 10 days each," the
agency said in the report, a copy of which was sent to The
Jakarta Post.

It said the host countries of the fairs and exhibitions
included Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore,
Vietnam, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates,
Morocco, South Africa, Russia, Germany, Scandinavia, the
Netherlands, Poland, the United States, Venezuela, Chile and
Mexico.

Commodities displayed in the fairs and exhibitions included
leather products, household appliances, furniture, fishery
products, pharmaceuticals, giftware, garments, processed food,
sporting equipment, horticultural produce, handicrafts,
automotive vehicles, cacao products, electronics, home
decorations as well as printing and stationery products.

The agency said that it will also arrange Indonesia's
participation in 11 other fairs in the January to March period of
this year, in which about 85 enterprises are expected to
participate. (kod)
