Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The fintech lending industry (pindar) recorded a positive performance throughout 2025. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that profits in this industry reached Rp2.27 trillion by the end of the year. This performance indicates that fintech lending can generate profits amid a regulatory environment that has strengthened and led to industry consolidation.

As 2026 began, the sector’s performance remained positive. In January 2026, fintech lending posted profits of Rp158.33 billion.

Executive Head of the Supervisory Board of Financing Institutions, Venture Capital Companies, Microfinance Institutions and Other Financial Service Institutions Agusman said the performance reflects the growth potential of the fintech lending industry which remains open going forward.

However, strengthening risk management and loan quality remain primary concerns to ensure healthy and sustainable growth.

In addition to profits, the disbursement of fintech lending financing began shifting toward the productive sector. As of January 2026, outstanding productive financing and MSMEs amounted to Rp33.30 trillion, about 33.8% of the total industry outstanding. This is a significant increase from the previous month and shows the push for fintech lending industry not only to focus on consumer financing but also to support the productive sector, including MSMEs.

Looking ahead, the regulator projects that the fintech lending industry still has positive growth room throughout 2026, helped by strengthened regulation, capitalization, and efforts to improve governance in the sector.

“These results show the potential for continued positive growth in 2026, while prioritising, among other things, strengthened risk management and loan quality,” Agusman said in a written statement cited on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Meanwhile, outstanding fintech lending financing as of January 2026 reached Rp98.54 trillion, up 25.52% YoY. However, the non-performing loan (NPL) ratio 90 days past due (TWP 90) stood at 4.38%, up from January 2025’s 2.52%.
