Financial Services Authority Revokes Operating Licence of Koperindo Jaya People's Bank
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the operating licence of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Koperindo Jaya, located in Central Jakarta. The licence revocation was effected because the bank failed to achieve financial rehabilitation.
The licence revocation was implemented in accordance with OJK Financial Services Authority Council Member Decision Number KEP-22/D.03/2026 dated 9 March 2026. “The revocation of PT BPR Koperindo Jaya’s operating licence is part of supervisory action taken by OJK to strengthen the banking industry,” according to an official OJK statement released on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
OJK had designated PT BPR Koperindo Jaya as a bank with Under-Restructuring Bank (BDP) supervisory status effective 22 January 2025. This decision was based on consideration of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (KPMM) being below regulatory requirements at negative 35.49 per cent, and a Health Assessment Rating (TKS) classification of “Unhealthy”.
On 21 January 2026, the authority designated BPR Koperindo Jaya as a bank with Under-Resolution Bank (BDR) supervisory status. OJK had provided sufficient time to the bank’s management and shareholders to undertake rehabilitation efforts, including addressing capitalisation problems.
The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has prepared the process for paying deposit insurance claims and implementing the liquidation of BPR Koperindo. The LPS will ensure that depositors’ savings are paid in accordance with applicable regulations.
Additionally, there will be a process of reconciliation and verification of deposit data and other information to determine the deposits that will be paid. The LPS will complete this process within a maximum of 90 working days, or by 29 July 2026.
Payments to depositors will be made in instalments during this period. The funds used to pay deposit insurance claims for BPR Koperindo depositors will come from LPS funds.
Jimmy Ardianto, Acting Director of the LPS Secretariat Group, has requested that BPR Koperindo depositors remain calm and not be provoked or manipulated into taking actions that could hinder the deposit insurance claims payment and bank liquidation process. He has also warned depositors not to trust parties claiming they can assist in processing deposit insurance claims in exchange for fees or other charges levied on depositors.
