Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has announced measures to address rogue elements within the ministry who have reused a vendor for the Coretax tax system that was previously terminated. Responding to journalists at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, the Minister revealed that at least 9 million Annual Tax Returns (SPT) have been filed through Coretax, with approximately 7-8 million still pending. “Suddenly, there were reports in Coretax about the system looping, even though it had disappeared before. It turns out that in our place, there are naughty individuals who contracted with a vendor that we had dismissed because of its slow service, and they sneaked it back in,” the Minister stated. “Now they won’t admit who brought it back in; I’ll check again who did it, and we will take action,” he added. He specifically highlighted the interface, which should be made easy for users, but in practice, it remains complicated. “It turns out it was made a bit complicated so that in the middle there is an interface application; this is being sold to large companies. I just found out,” Purbaya remarked. Previously, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa decided to extend the deadline for filing Annual Income Tax Returns for Individual Taxpayers (WP OP) until 30 April 2026, from the original 31 March 2026. This policy is outlined in the announcement from the Directorate General of Taxes Number PENG-28/PJ.09/2026. The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) itself recorded that the number of Annual Income Tax Return filings for the 2025 tax year has reached 9,131,427 SPT as of 26 March 2026. Of this number, 8,874,904 taxpayers have filed their Annual Tax Returns. In detail, Coretax account activations consist of 15,677,209 individual taxpayers, 955,508 corporate taxpayers, 90,411 government agency taxpayers, and 226 Electronic System-Based Traders (PMSE) taxpayers.
