Finance Minister Pursues 10 Companies Suspected of Under Invoicing to Boost Revenue Collection
Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is pursuing 10 companies suspected of engaging in under invoicing, the illegal practice of declaring goods or services at artificially low values in international trade invoices. The enforcement action is part of efforts to strengthen state revenue collection.
Purbaya explained that such practices represent a significant source of revenue leakage for the state. Consequently, enforcement against these illegal activities is expected to support increased fiscal revenue, particularly from the taxation sector.
“We have already identified which companies are conducting under invoicing and the scale. I believe this will continue to improve our revenue going forward,” Purbaya told journalists at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Overall, Purbaya noted that state revenue performance, particularly taxation, showed improvement compared to the previous year. For the January to February 2026 period, tax revenue grew approximately 30 per cent.
In February 2026 specifically, net tax revenue reached IDR 245.1 trillion, an increase of 30.4 per cent year-on-year.
The growth was primarily supported by Value Added Tax (VAT) and Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPnBM), which surged 97.4 per cent to IDR 85.9 trillion, reflecting increased economic activity and transactions.
Additionally, Corporate Income Tax (PPh Badan) grew 44 per cent. Personal Income Tax and Article 21 Income Tax rose 3.4 per cent.
Final Income Tax, Article 22 Income Tax, and Article 26 Income Tax registered 4.4 per cent growth, whilst other tax categories increased 24.2 per cent.
Purbaya expressed hope that this positive trend would continue as the national economy improves.
“The economy is truly turning. I hope it will continue to improve in the future,” he said.
