Jakarta – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has disclosed that the government is currently pursuing 10 companies identified as engaging in underinvoicing, wherein they declare lower values than the actual worth of imported goods.

According to the minister, the underinvoicing practice has become one of the major sources of state revenue leakage. As such, efforts to eradicate this illicit practice are expected to boost fiscal revenue through increased tax collections.

“We have already detected which companies are engaging in underinvoicing and in what amounts. I believe this will continuously improve our revenue going forward,” Purbaya stated at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.

However, Purbaya acknowledged that the government has yet to determine the exact value of state losses caused by underinvoicing by these 10 companies. “That is still being calculated,” he said.

Overall, Purbaya reported that revenue collection performance has improved compared to the previous year. For the period of January and February, tax receipts recorded growth at the 30 per cent level.

Specifically in February 2026, net tax receipts reached Rp245.1 trillion, growing 30.4 per cent year-on-year.

The minister explained that the growth in tax receipts was primarily driven by the performance of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Luxury Goods Sales Tax, which grew by 97.4 per cent, reaching Rp85.9 trillion. According to the Finance Minister, this reflects increased economic activity and transactions.

Additionally, Corporate Income Tax also grew 44 per cent. Meanwhile, Personal Income Tax and Article 21 Income Tax increased 3.4 per cent. Article 22 Income Tax, Article 26 Income Tax, and other Final Income Tax were recorded as growing 4.4 per cent, whilst other tax sources rose 24.2 per cent.

Purbaya expressed hopes that such positive tax collection performance will be sustained and continue to improve in the future.

“The economy is truly moving. I hope it will continue to improve,” he said.
