Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the proposed takeover of Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) from Danantara’s management remains under discussion within the government.

Purbaya described the proposal as a policy option currently being calculated and discussed with relevant stakeholders. “Still in the discussion process,” Purbaya said when met at the Ministry of Finance on Friday (13 March 2026).

He explained that the matter has been escalated to the government level and has also been reported to President Prabowo Subianto. “It has been brought up, we keep calculating it. I have also reported it to the President. Sir, there is a plan like this, if you allow it. But it has not been decided yet. He just said, well, calculate it, if it looks good why not,” he said.

Nevertheless, Purbaya emphasised that no final decision has been made regarding the proposal. The government continues to calculate various policy scenarios that would be most advantageous for the nation.

He added that discussions are also being conducted with Investment and Industrial Downstreaming Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani to determine the best course of action. “This is an option, it could be yes or no. We have been calculating with Pak Rosan what would be the best step for the country, for fund distribution, and for MSME credit,” said Purbaya.

Previously, Danantara Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani responded to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa’s desire to take over PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) from PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI.

Roeslani acknowledged that Purbaya had mentioned the plan to him, but it has not yet become a formal discussion. This is because the Ministry of Finance has not yet formally presented its rationale for taking over PNM.

He affirmed that Danantara is open to various government policy options, including the transfer of PNM. “We are open, we will see which is best. The presentation to us has not happened yet, the formal one also has not happened, this is just a discussion so far,” he said when met at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta.
