Final Day of Eid Holiday Return Traffic: 35,000 Vehicles Enter Jakarta via MBZ Toll
Traffic conditions during the Eid return flow have started to level off. A total of 35,120 vehicles headed towards Jakarta via the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) toll road elevated section on Saturday (28/3), according to data received from Jasa Marga on Sunday (29/3/2026). This figure represents a 29.30% increase compared to normal traffic levels.
Jasa Marga stated that this number indicates the return flow to Jakarta is still ongoing, but as the Eid holiday draws to a close, vehicle volumes during the return season are beginning to decrease gradually.
On the other hand, the number of vehicles leaving Jakarta was recorded at 20,036, a 33.76% decrease compared to normal traffic of 30,247 vehicles. This decline serves as an indication that outbound vehicle movements from Jakarta are starting to subside in line with the end of the main mudik and return flow period.
Overall, Jasa Marga reported that traffic conditions on the MBZ toll road elevated section are monitored as smooth and under control, supported by continuous traffic monitoring and the readiness of operational personnel on the ground.
22 Percent of Mudik Travellers Have Not Yet Returned to Jakarta
Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that 22 percent of vehicles have not yet returned to Jakarta during the 2026 Eid return flow. He predicted an increase in vehicle volumes heading to Jakarta by the end of this weekend.
“From traffic counting calculations, up to now it’s around 22 percent. So it’s likely that this afternoon there will be a surge in flow, and possibly tomorrow as well,” said Inspector General Agus at the Command Center Km 29 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, North Cikarang, Bekasi, on Saturday (28/3).
Inspector General Agus mentioned that the one-way scheme has been implemented for the second wave of the return flow. So far, the local one-way stage two from Km 263 to Km 70 of the Trans Java toll road is still in effect and is being prepared for extension.
“We are preparing to implement one-way stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, and later we will decide whether a national one-way return flow stage two is necessary,” he said.
