Filipino father kills children

ILIGAN, Philippines (AFP): A 36-year-old engineer stabbed two of his children to death yesterday and wounded two others before trying to commit suicide, police said.

Rasmia Ali Mangondaya, 28, said her husband, Pandao, awakened her in their home in Pantar town in the southern province of Lanao del Norte before dawn and began closing all doors and windows.

He then pulled out a knife and stabbed his three-year-old daughter and a son, two, killing them. He also stabbed a five- year-old son and tried to choke a one-year-old baby boy, the wife said.

She managed to hit him on the head with a bottle, knocking him out. When he came to, he saw the bodies of his children and slashed his own throat and stomach.

The father and the two surviving children were in separate hospitals.
