Festive Lunar New Year Celebrations at SCBD Feature Cultural Parade and MSME Bazaar
The Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) area held a series of Chinese New Year 2577 Kongzili celebrations under the theme ‘Ride to Luck’ (Join the Journey, Catch the Luck), open to the public and free of charge. The programme featured a cultural parade and culinary bazaar in the heart of Jakarta.
The collaboration between SCBD Commercial District, SCBD Park, and SCBD Weekland drew thousands of residents who enjoyed artistic performances, cultural attractions, and a range of Lunar New Year and archipelago cuisine.
House of Representatives Commission IV Chair Titiek Soeharto, who attended the event, praised the celebration as inclusive and grounded.
“To everyone, Chinese Indonesian citizens across the country, happy Lunar New Year. May this year bring blessings, health, and happiness for us all, especially for the Indonesian nation, so that we are all granted good health, increased blessings, and prosperity,” she said in a written statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).
Titiek also emphasised that the event served as a space for cross-community togetherness and could be enjoyed free of charge by all Jakarta residents, not only Chinese Indonesians.
“And there is no admission fee, so everyone can come and see. MSMEs can also sell here. So thank you to Artha Graha Group and Artha Graha Peduli for preparing such a wonderful event for the people of Jakarta,” she added.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana also attended during the cultural parade and highlighted the involvement of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the celebration.
“I would like to wish a Happy Lunar New Year to Chinese Indonesians celebrating 2577 Kongzili. In my view, this is an excellent initiative. The events and the parade here also involve many MSMEs,” she said.
Embracing the concept of acculturation, ‘Ride to Luck’ showcased a collaboration of lion dances and dragon performances with Betawi performing arts. One of the standout attractions was a 30-metre Naga Liong dragon performance and the release of 9,988 sparrows as a symbol of prayers and good wishes for the new year.
The celebration was also described as being in line with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s ‘Jakarta Melting Pot: Harmony in Diversity’ programme, which promotes the strengthening of tolerance and the development of culture-based urban tourism.
Director of Creative Event Entertainment, Ananta Pribadi, said the ‘Ride to Luck’ theme symbolised a new journey full of optimism.
“Through this theme, we want to invite the public to begin a new journey this year with full enthusiasm and hope. We are proud to showcase the harmony of Chinese and Betawi cultures living side by side in a modern area like SCBD,” he said.
This year, the Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh celebrations were described as feeling distinctly different as they coincided with the start of Ramadan 2026. This convergence was highlighted as a symbol of harmonisation between cultures and religious diversity through artistic performances, thematic decorations, and cross-community interaction.
As part of the programme, the organisers also presented a Lunar New Year Market featuring 80 SCBD-supported MSMEs, offering Lunar New Year cuisine and archipelago dishes, as well as cashless transaction promotions from Bank Artha Graha Internasional.
Additionally, there were lion dance performances, traditional dance, and Chinese traditional music combined with Betawi culture. The events ran from early February, with the peak on 16–17 February, and a special performance on 1 March.
All entertainment and cultural attractions were available free of charge, making the area an inclusive public space.
The success of the event was supported by business units under Artha Graha Network and Artha Graha Group. As the manager of the SCBD area, PT Danayasa Arthatama prepared facility integration and visitor comfort throughout the event.
Artha Graha Peduli (AGP) was also involved through mentoring and empowering MSMEs to strengthen the role of small business operators in Jakarta’s business centre.
SCBD is an integrated commercial district spanning 45 hectares in South Jakarta with modern, environmentally friendly technology-based infrastructure. Its development includes SCBD Park, a 5.8-hectare semi-outdoor retail space, and SCBD Weekland as a weekend entertainment destination featuring cultural festivals and MSME bazaars.
Through social and creative economy programmes, including AGP’s Affordable Market and MSME mentoring, SCBD promotes its role as a meeting point for diversity and a driver of the economy.
