Ferry services on the Ketapang–Gilimanuk route will be temporarily halted during Bali’s Nyepi celebrations. The policy is a tribute to the Hindu holy day observed through Catur Brata Penyepian. PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) will suspend ferry operations from Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk, Bali, as well as several routes to Lombok, for the period. “Operational adjustments were also made because Nyepi coincides with the Lebaran 2026 period, which is expected to see a surge in mobility,” Aan Suhanan said in a written statement received in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Friday. The Ministry of Transportation together with ASDP have set the schedule for temporary suspensions at major ports. During the period, all ferry activities will be halted in line with Bali’s Nyepi observance. The government has prepared several traffic-management schemes to anticipate vehicle movements during 13–29 March 2026, close to the Lebaran exodus. In addition to diversions, the government will implement a delaying system through buffer zones at tolled and non-tolled routes to ease congestion toward the ports. Geofencing regulations will also be applied with a radius of around 2.65 kilometres from Ketapang Port and 2 kilometres from Gilimanuk Port to control queues heading to the port areas.
