Feri Amsari Reveals Family Targeted by Doxing Terror
Feri Amsari, a constitutional law expert from Andalas University, has revealed that his family has fallen victim to doxing terror on social media. Feri disclosed this during a press conference at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office in Jakarta on Friday, 5 June 2026.
“My family and I have recently been doxed. Information regarding my wife and children has been published by individuals whom I suspect to be buzzers,” said Feri Amsari.
Feri stated that the doxing was carried out by buzzers accompanied by threatening language directed at his family, causing significant distress. The terror included threats that his wife and children would become victims.
“The language used was, ‘You don’t know yet that your wife and children will become victims,’” Feri noted.
Feri argued that the state should guarantee protection for the freedom to express ideas. He explained that, on a constitutional principle, the public holds sovereignty, and as such, the public must be provided with the space to express their opinions freely.
“That is why the guarantee to express opinions and thoughts is constitutionally protected, without any actual limitations on the guarantee to convey opinions and thoughts,” he added.
Feri, alongside other prominent figures, held the press conference to respond to the terror and intimidation faced by civil society. Other attendees included Saiful Mujani, founder of the Saiful Mujani Research Center and Consulting; Muhammad Isnur, Chairman of YLBHI; Al Araf, Chairman of the Centra Initiative; Tiyo Ardianto, former Chairman of the Gadjah Mada University Student Executive Board (BEM); Islah Bahrawi, Executive Director of the Indonesian Moderate Network; and Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of KontraS. During the conference, the participants wore black armbands as a symbol of being victims of terror.
