Female University Student Found Dead in Cikarang Bekasi Apartment, Five Arrested by Police
The Bekasi Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Bekasi) have apprehended five individuals suspected of involvement in the case of a female university student found dead at an apartment in the North Cikarang subdistrict.
"Officers have designated five perpetrators as suspects over alleged involvement in a chain of events that led to the victim's death," said Bekasi Metropolitan Police Chief Senior Commissioner Sumarni in Cikarang on Monday (16 February).
He explained that the case originated from a public report regarding the discovery of a female university student from East Cikarang found dead at the Riverview Tower Mahakam Apartment in the North Cikarang subdistrict, Bekasi regency.
Officers who received the public report immediately attended the scene and found the victim, identified by the initials PAF (20), deceased inside an apartment room. The incident occurred on Wednesday (11 February) the previous week.
Officers subsequently evacuated the victim's body to the National Police Medical Centre Hospital (RS TK I Pusdokkes Polri) for an autopsy, whilst an investigation into the case commenced.
Based on the investigation findings, the victim was known to have arrived at the location with several acquaintances and allegedly consumed illegally obtained abortion medication. After consuming the medication, the victim's health deteriorated until she lost consciousness and was pronounced dead.
Through further case development, investigators detained five suspects alleged to have been involved in the sequential sale and distribution of the medication, namely SN alias F, ADY, H alias H, EA alias E, and NF.
The suspects allegedly profited from the sale of the medication ultimately consumed by the victim.
Police are also continuing their pursuit of another individual with the initials R, who has been placed on the wanted persons list.
A number of items of evidence were also secured, including several mobile telephones, motor vehicles, remnants of medication allegedly used by the victim, and other items connected to the incident.
The suspects are now undergoing further investigation and have been charged under articles relating to premeditated murder, murder, and other criminal offences connected to the distribution of illegal drugs in accordance with prevailing legal provisions.
Sumarni affirmed that his office would pursue the full exposure of the illegal drug distribution network, including tracing the source of the medication back to the principal supplier in order to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
The police chief urged the public to immediately report suspected narcotics trafficking or other dangerous drugs to officers, the nearest police station, or the complaint channels that have been established.
He also highlighted an interactive service entitled "Direct Chat with the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Chief's Spouse" (CLBK) for all residents requiring police assistance or wishing to convey information and complaints.
Information may be submitted directly by the public via the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Chief's Spouse WhatsApp number at 081383990086, the National Police call centre at 110, or the 24-hour complaint line at 08111939110.
