Fearing Traffic Congestion, Bogor Residents Begin Early Mudik from Baranangsiang Terminal
BOGOR — Travellers from Bogor are beginning to crowd Baranangsiang Terminal to commence their early mudik journeys for Lebaran.
Several residents are returning to their hometowns earlier than planned, motivated by the desire to reunite with family at the earliest opportunity. Beyond this, they are concerned that if their departure is too close to Lebaran, roads will become congested.
According to Kompas.com observations on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, morning, dozens of travellers began queuing at a bus ticket counter on the second floor of Baranangsiang Terminal in Bogor. Chairs in front of one of the counters were filled with baggage belonging to departing travellers waiting to purchase tickets.
One traveller, Sapei, 56, revealed that he had been queuing to book tickets to Bumiayu in Central Java since 05:00 WIB. He queued early to avoid difficulty in obtaining a ticket back to his hometown.
Sapei chose to depart for mudik earlier to avoid traffic congestion during the peak period of the 2026 Lebaran exodus. “To avoid traffic. Avoiding congestion, and the roads are usually crowded like that,” said Sapei at Baranangsiang Terminal in Bogor.
For his mudik journey, Sapei also prepared food for breaking his fast as a precaution in case he does not arrive at his hometown on time. “Yes, I miss my family. I want to spend time together like that,” he explained.
Another traveller, Amin, 49, arrived at the ticket counter at Baranangsiang Terminal around 06:00 WIB. Similarly, he has decided to return to Tegal earlier after working as a construction worker in Bogor.
