Father, son jailed for murder

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The district court in Rantau, Tapin, has sentenced Capt.(ret) Mansyur and his son, Mansyah, to 20 years and eleven years, respectively, for killing two people last year.

The panel of judges, presided over by Djumadi Notodihardjo, said in the verdict that the two were found guilty of murdering Daniel Merah Bangsawan and his son Indra Merah Sakti Bangsawan in Rantau in May, last year.

Earlier, prosecutor Isaini had sought a life sentence for Mansyur and 20 years in jail for Mansyah.

Defense lawyers have yet to decide whether they will appeal, Antara reported yesterday.(rms)
