BEKASI — A robbery that claimed the life of EU (65) and left his wife, PW (60), in critical condition at Prima Lingkar Asri residential complex in Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi, has raised numerous unresolved questions.

The incident, which occurred during dawn prayers (sahur) in the early hours of Monday, 2 March 2026, remains only partially clarified. Police are continuing to investigate the perpetrators’ trail, motive, and the goods reported stolen.

Chief of Criminal Investigation at Bekasi Metro Police Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal stated that the suspects are believed to have gained entry by breaking the victims’ window.

Footprints discovered on the front fence adjoining vacant land support this theory.

“It appears the perpetrators likely came over the front wall, then climbed directly onto the house gate. The front is vacant land,” Iqbal said.

The Police Directorate of Animal Units deployed K-9 tracking dogs to the scene.

The dogs swept the area as far as Kalimalang Road, approximately 20–30 metres from the victims’ home.

The K-9 unit paused for around 15 minutes at an abandoned motorcycle washing facility now serving as a scrap metal storage site.

The trail leading to Kalimalang has not yet clarified whether the perpetrators fled via that route.

Additionally, police have not yet determined how many people were involved.

The uncertainty over the number of perpetrators means investigators are still examining the possibility of multiple individuals being involved in the incident.

“We cannot yet specify the number of perpetrators. It is quite likely there was more than one. However, we are still verifying,” Iqbal stated.

The motive for the crime has not been conclusively determined. Initial suspicions still point towards robbery.
