Farmers bothered by rodents, boars
JAMBI, Jambi: Farmers in the Sarolangun Bangko regency, which
is one of the main food producers in the province, have recently
complained about the frequent attacks of moles and boars in their
rice fields.
Regent Zainul Imron said on Saturday that the animals cause a
great deal of financial loss.
"We're going to wage a war against the pests or at least
reduce the loss inflicted on farmers," he was quoted by Antara as
saying.
The regency is among those which have reached self-sufficiency
in food production. The government attempted to boost
productivity even further by providing, from the local
administration's budget, small tractors for each of the villages
in the regency. (swe)
