Farabi El Fouz Urges West Java Regional Agencies to Expand Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities
Farabi El Fouz, a member of the West Java Provincial Legislative Assembly’s Commission V overseeing social welfare, has urged regional agencies within the West Java provincial government to provide greater opportunities for persons with disabilities to work and contribute to the public sector.
Farabi, who oversees social welfare matters, views inclusive action as essential to ensuring that every citizen has equal opportunity to obtain employment, including those with special needs.
He has praised the West Java provincial governor’s initiative in employing a deaf woman as a sign language interpreter at the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), describing the policy as demonstrating local government support for persons with disabilities.
“This is a very positive step and deserves appreciation. The presence of a sign language interpreter at Bapenda demonstrates that the local government is beginning to open space for persons with disabilities to work within the bureaucracy,” Farabi stated on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
He expressed hope that the initiative would not be limited to a single agency but could be extended to other regional agencies within the provincial government, thereby providing more persons with disabilities the opportunity for decent employment.
Farabi believes that the involvement of persons with disabilities in the workforce can improve their welfare and sends a powerful message that government is present for all segments of society without discrimination.
According to him, inclusive policies have broad social impact, particularly for families with children with special needs. When the government opens employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, parents’ hopes for their children’s future become stronger.
“When the state provides space, families with special children will feel more optimistic about their children’s future. They see that their children also have the opportunity to become independent and contribute to society,” he said.
Farabi has further urged the West Java provincial government to strengthen disability-friendly policies, including employment opportunities, public services, and supporting facilities within the government environment.
He hopes West Java can serve as an example for other regions in building inclusive, humane government administration that offers equal opportunity to all citizens, including persons with disabilities.
