Family of viral woman who habitually does not pay for meals identified; they will visit her
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The head of the Central Jakarta Social Service Sub-Agency (Sudinsos), Agus Aripianto, said that the family of Nani Sutra Sitorus (38), the woman who went viral for frequently not paying for meals, has been identified. The family has also contacted the Duren Sawit Regional Specialist Hospital (RSKD Duren Sawit), where Nani is currently being treated. ‘According to information from the hospital, the family has been identified and has contacted the hospital. The family will also visit the woman (Nani),’ Agus said when contacted by Kompas.com on Thursday (5/3/2026). However, when asked about the origin of Nani’s family, he said he was awaiting further information from the hospital, as data about the family was only obtained on Thursday afternoon. This information is needed to determine the next steps in handling the case, particularly if Nani will be handed over to her family. ‘I am waiting for the data. I want to know where the family is from, I am waiting for their biographical details, at least who will take charge,’ Agus explained. He added that to date they are also awaiting an official statement from the doctors regarding Nani’s condition and whether she has been allowed to go home or not. ‘Because there has been no release from the doctors yet, whether she can go home or not. But the family has certainly been communicating with the hospital,’ he continued. Agus added that the DSKD Duren Sawit has coordinated with the Jakarta Population and Civil Registry Service (Dukcapil) and conducted face recognition (identity verification by facial scan) on Nani. Based on the checks carried out by the RSKD, Nani is known to possess a BPJS Health Card, but it is no longer active. Agus revealed that Nani is currently still under treatment at the Duren Sawit RSKD. ‘The person is being treated at the RSKD. They are being treated by a psychiatrist,’ Agus said. Nani is being treated with a temporary guarantee status as a homeless person (OT). Under this status, the cost of her care is borne by the Jakarta Provincial Government.
