Family of JICT Retiree Ermanto Usman Seeks Protection from LPSK
The Ermanto Usman family, victims of a homicide in Pondok Gede, Bekasi City, have filed a protection request with the Witness and Victims Protection Agency (LPSK) on Thursday 5 March 2026. The victims’ family arrived at the LPSK office accompanied by representatives from the JICT workers’ union, their legal counsel, and a member of the Indonesian Parliament, Rieke Diah Pitaloka (DPR RI). “The protection request submitted to LPSK will be followed up, and LPSK is ready to provide protection, fulfil rights, and offer assistance to witnesses and/or victims in accordance with applicable rules,” said LPSK chair Achmadi at the office on Thursday. Achmadi explained that the family applying for protection is currently undergoing psychological assessment. “Not for long (the assessment); what is important is that we promptly implement steps for the victim and/or the victim’s family who are affected, and that is important to do promptly,” he said. He also urged that case handling should be precise and based on scientific crime investigation. “And of course, we all hope this will push for handling the disclosure of the case accurately. It is important to uncover a case correctly,” he added. Earlier reports indicated that Ermanto and his wife were suspected to be victims of a robbery accompanied by assault that proved fatal on Monday 2 March 2026. The Head of the Bekasi City Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, said the preliminary indications point to a robbery, although the exact motive remains under investigation. When found, Ermanto was on a bed, bloodstained, while Pasmilawati lay on the bedroom floor. Initial medical examinations showed both had injuries from blows with a blunt object to the back of the head. The investigation now involves personnel from Pondok Gede Police Sector, Bekasi City Metro Police, and Jatanras of the Metro Jaya Regional Police to uncover the perpetrators and the motive in the case. Other anomalies were seen in the items inside the house. The son said several important family documents remained intact and were kept in a safe place.
