“For the autopsy results, an autopsy is not being conducted for now because the family has refused it,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKP Indra Darmawan, to reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police Resort on Tuesday.
Indra stated that regarding the external examination of the bodies, the competent party to answer would be from the health sector.
He added that the parties involved in the case investigation include the Ministry of Manpower and the DKI Jakarta Labour, Transmigration, and Energy Office.
“The DKI Jakarta Provincial Labour, Transmigration, and Energy Office, the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Manpower, as well as the Bareskrim Polri forensic laboratory, have conducted checks and processed the crime scene regarding the conditions at the site,” he said.
To date, the police are still verifying the ownership of the building, workplace safety negligence, and how long the building has been under construction.
“The building has been under construction for approximately over a year,” he said.
Previously, the Jagakarsa Police Sector confirmed four victims died and three people suffered shortness of breath after inhaling gas from a water tank at a multi-storey building project located on Jalan TB Simatupang RT 02/RW 02, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.
The deceased victims are YN (32) from Subang, MW (62) from Cianjur, TS (63) from West Bandung, and MF (19) from West Bandung.
Meanwhile, the three victims with shortness of breath are UJ (41), SN (63), and AJ (47). All three are residents of Purwakarta.
The chronology of the incident began when two construction workers at the project were at the location on Friday (3/4) at 10:00 WIB.
At that time, the two victims were asked by the foreman to drain the clean water reservoir located on the ground floor (basement).
Then, during the process of dismantling the cover, the victims fell into the three-metre deep reservoir hole.
The victims were initially helped by their colleagues, but without using safety equipment. As a result, the colleagues also fell into the reservoir.
The incident caused four people to fall and three others to suffer shortness of breath due to the hot air and odour from the water tank.
