A Palestinian humanitarian delegation led by Taysir Hamdan Sulaiman made an official visit to the Ministry of Culture and met with Culture Minister Fadli Zon. They discussed humanitarian affairs and the genocide museum.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Culture’s office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5) afternoon. During the visit, Taysir was accompanied by Fahmi Salim, Director of the Baitul Maqdis Institute, Ilham Aznun, Director of Amanah Kemanusiaan Global (AMAL) in Jabodetabek, and humanitarian activist Neno Warisman.

Taysir conveyed the aspirations and current conditions of the Palestinian people facing a humanitarian crisis. He urged the international community, including Indonesia, to continue helping with social and educational recovery in Palestine.

One of the main points raised was a request for humanitarian assistance to develop educational facilities for children with special needs in Palestinian territories, particularly in the city of Al-Quds. Additionally, the delegation requested support for organising humanitarian seminars at various universities in Indonesia to increase public awareness of the Palestinian issue.

Taysir also invited TNI personnel scheduled to serve in the humanitarian mission in Gaza, as well as the wider Indonesian public, to continue showing solidarity with the Palestinian people. Meanwhile, Fahmi Salim and Neno Warisman proposed a strategic initiative to build the Museum of Palestinian Genocide in Indonesia.

This idea is hoped to serve as a public education tool and a collective reminder of the humanitarian tragedy experienced by the Palestinian people. In response, Culture Minister Fadli Zon expressed appreciation and the Indonesian government’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle.

Fadli also stated the Ministry of Culture’s readiness to support educational facilities, including for children with special needs in Al-Quds. Furthermore, the Ministry will provide recommendations for organising humanitarian seminars at universities in Indonesia.

Fadli welcomed the proposal to build the Museum of Palestinian Genocide. He considered the initiative to have strategic value in building historical and humanitarian awareness among the public.

Fadli also explained that the TNI personnel to be sent to Gaza by President Prabowo Subianto consist of medical and engineering (zeny) units that will focus on humanitarian missions. He said the TNI personnel will assist in infrastructure rehabilitation and post-conflict trauma recovery, not in a combat capacity.

In the warm meeting, Taysir symbolically handed over sand from the soil of Al-Quds as a symbol of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and hope for Palestinian independence. Fadli then gave a book titled ‘The History of Wayang’.
