Fadli Zon challenges Generation Z in Bengkulu to participate in revitalising historical sites
Bengkulu (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has challenged Generation Z in Bengkulu to actively participate in revitalising historical sites through festivals and creative activities, making the historical areas in Bengkulu more attractive to tourists.
“I hope that the younger generation, especially Generation Z in Bengkulu, can actively organise activities and festivals in the historical sites so that more people will come and experience their historical value,” said Fadli Zon in Bengkulu on Wednesday.
He made the appeal after inspecting Fort Marlborough and the Bung Karno Residence, which are two historical landmarks in the city of Bengkulu.
According to him, historical sites should not only be maintained physically but also revitalised with activities that involve the community and young people to ensure their continued appeal.
He said that culture should be positioned as an economic strength and also be able to generate new talents from young people while encouraging the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors in the region.
“We must revitalise culture so that it becomes an economic strength. From there, new talents can emerge from Bengkulu,” he said.
During his visit to Bengkulu, Fadli Zon assessed that the colonial-era sites have high historical tourism potential and could attract more tourists.
“I think the people of Indonesia need to come to Bengkulu, especially to Fort Marlborough, to see its beauty and historical value, including the Bung Karno Residence, which has high historical value,” he said.
