JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects former Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq (FAR) of interfering to secure her election victory in the 2024 Pekalongan Regency election. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that Fadia is suspected of intervening with outsourced staff employed by her family’s company, PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB), within the Pekalongan Regency Government in Central Java. ‘There is suspicion of interference to ensure that during the 2024 election, they vote for FAR,’ Budi said in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, according to Antara. Additionally, the alleged interference by Fadia Arafiq will enrich the KPK’s corruption prevention efforts. ‘Specifically, in the political party corruption prevention study, there are scenarios deliberately created to favour certain parties,’ Budi added. Fadia is suspected of being involved in a complete cycle: establishing family company PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB), participating in procurement projects within the Pekalongan Regency Government, directing subordinates to secure contracts for the company, then channeling billions of rupiah in profits back to her family circle. The KPK revealed that Fadia gained substantial benefits from numerous procurement projects undertaken by RNB across various Pekalongan Regency government agencies. In 2025, RNB dominated procurement projects in the Pekalongan Regency, handling outsourcing services for 17 government agencies, three district hospitals (RSUD), and one district. Furthermore, between 2023 and 2026, RNB received transactions totalling Rp46 billion from contracts with Pekalongan Regency government agencies. Of this amount, Rp19 billion, approximately 40 per cent of total transactions, was enjoyed and distributed among the regent’s family. Fadia faces corruption charges under Article 12 letter i and Article 12 B of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 127(1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).
