Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq was arrested during a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation on Tuesday, 3 March. Fadia is a prominent figure who recently began his second term after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in February 2025.

“During this covert investigation activity, the team secured a number of individuals in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java. One of them is the regent,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Budi further stated that Fadia Arafiq is currently being transported to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta for further questioning. The KPK has 24 hours to determine his status in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo confirmed that the enforcement team secured a number of individuals in Pekalongan, Central Java. In addition to the regent, several officials from Pekalongan Regency administration were also reported to have been questioned at Pekalongan City Police Headquarters before being transferred to the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta.

Fadia Arafiq, whose birth name is Laila Fathiah, was born in Jakarta on 23 May 1978. He is not unknown to the Indonesian public.

Based on the State Officials’ Wealth Declaration Report (LHKPN) reported as of March 2026, Fadia Arafiq’s total wealth reached 85.6 billion rupiah. This figure makes him one of the wealthiest district heads in Central Java.
